  • The Who, What, Where, and When of the IdahoTrek:

Who:

Any Iowa high school student that has a passion for the outdoors, and wants to learn about wilderness; how to protect it and why it is so vital to the world.

What:

The Idahotrek is a week-long backpacking trip in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness located in north-central Idaho. Students will participate on a volunteer trail crew, learning about backcountry hand tools, campsite rehab, erosion control methods, Leave No Trace ethics and much more. Along with the physical work, participants will be immersed in a mental journey focusing on themselves and why the wildness that they are experiencing is so important to preserve. It's definitely not all work though, fun....lots and lots of fun will be had. Fishing, hiking, swimming, frisbee, you name it!

Where:

The Selway-Bitterroot wilderness area. One of the largest areas of land in America still relatively untouched by humans.

When:

Trips happen every summer, usually in mid-August.
